The Coal City Intermediate School Beginning Band is diligently preparing for its upcoming Spring Concert, scheduled for Wednesday, April 16. The band has been focusing on advancing through their method book, emphasizing new notes and rhythms to tackle more challenging music. This progress will be reviewed at the start of the sixth-grade band.
Reflecting on a recent performance in February, the band showcased selections from their method book alongside pieces like "Bandroom Boogie." They also performed "Mechanical Monsters" with all students from the Coal City Band program participating. The event was noted as spectacular and recommended for inclusion on calendars next year.
Some students have taken extra initiative by engaging in the Band Karate program. To earn a belt in this program, students are required to perform two songs from the method book, a portion of a scale, and two complex rhythms. Director Andrew Brimm expressed enthusiasm about these efforts: “Many students are excelling and we can’t wait to highlight their accomplishments at our Spring Concert,” he stated.
