Three nurses from Riverside Healthcare have received statewide recognition for their contributions to the nursing profession.

Whitney Trevino, BSN, RN, who serves as Nursing Manager of Riverside’s Medical-Pediatric Unit, was selected as one of the Illinois Nurses Foundation’s 2025 “40 Under 40 Emerging Nurse Leaders.” Trevino has spent sixteen years at Riverside and has advanced from bedside nurse to a leadership role. She is recognized for her patient advocacy and efforts to foster a safe and collaborative work environment.

Erika Ohlendorf, MSN, MBA, RN, CCRN, Director of Nursing at Riverside, was given the Future of Nursing Award by the Illinois Organization of Nurse Leaders (IONL) at its annual conference in Lisle. The award honors emerging leaders who demonstrate transformational leadership and potential to shape the future of nursing. Ohlendorf is noted for her commitment to leadership development and improving patient care.

Liz Deck, FNP-BC, BC-ADM, CDCES, DNP, earned third place in the poster competition at the IONL Conference for her research presentation titled “Does Monthly Newsletter Communication Predict Employee Engagement?” Her study emphasizes how effective internal communication can improve engagement and satisfaction among nursing staff.

“These recognitions highlight the exceptional talent and dedication of our nursing team at Riverside,” said Ellen Bollino, RN, MSN, CEN, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Riverside. “Whitney, Erika, and Liz each bring passion, compassion, and innovation to their work every day. Their accomplishments show the powerful impact nurses can have, not only in transforming patient care but also in inspiring those around them. We could not be prouder to see their hard work recognized at the state level.”

Riverside Healthcare congratulated all three nurses for their achievements and their representation of leadership within the field.
